Why Thinking Thursday? – Denise Gaskins’ Let’s Play Math

There’s a new math journaling prompt this week.
Have your kids tried it yet?
This week’s prompt features one of my favorite quotations to get kids thinking (and writing) about the value of mistakes in learning. Or you might prefer last week’s prompt, featuring a classic math brainteaser and encouraging students to create their own related puzzles.
Or, if you’re reading this post later and missed those, there’s another great new prompt this week for you to explore.
Check it out:

Why Does the Prompt Disappear?
For over a year now, I’ve posted a new math journaling prompt every Thursday.
But why does each prompt eventually disappear?
Well, bookstores (especially the World’s-Largest-River store) don’t like it if I put too many book excerpts on my blog. And I’ve already posted a LOT of writing prompts that are always available.

So last year I started this series of temporary blog posts with journaling activity excerpts from my playful math books. Each Thinking Thursday post is live for a limited time, then it comes down and a new post goes up.
That means you can try a new writing or activity idea every week.
Look for each new post at the top of the Thinking Thursday page:
